My name is Sydney Pimentel-Rushing and I am a licensed professional counselor associate who is under the supervision of Erin Johnston LPC-S, RPT-S™ . I was an elementary teacher for three years and am currently a professional school counselor by day. My professional background includes experience in private practice, ABA (applied behavioral analysis)  therapy clinics and the public school setting with children, teens and adults. 

I have experience working with issues such as anxiety, depression, parenting struggles, life transitions, stress, ADHD and autisim. 

I work from an approach of uncondictional positive regard for the client. Within the counseling room you will find acceptance for every aspect of who you are as a person. There will be times when you may feel challenged as we push you towards growth. I believe counseling is not a "one-size-fits-all" model, and am happy to incorporate creative practices such as art, journaling, and music among other modalites. 

I specialize in solution focused counseling, as I strongly believe in the power of positive psychology. Clients who have tried therapy may have experienced walking away from their sessions with feelings of despair at all the things they are doing "wrong." By following a solution-focused model, my clients can leave sessions feeling optimstic and confident that they have agency over their lives. 

Prior to private practice,  I worked as a public education teacher, applied behavioral anaylsis assistant for children and a school counselor. During this time, I have had the pleasure of collaborating with teachers, parents and administration to ensure sucess for students and families. My experience with serving as a member on the campus IEP, 504, and Student Sucess Team provides me with insight into mental health impacts academic performance and family dynamics. 

I also love working with first generation Americans to help faciliate each individual's growth and honor their stories.
